Cox's Bazaar, Oct 04 (bdnews24.com)—Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit on Monday Cox's Bazaar's Ramu Upazila where religious bigots looted and torched Buddhist temples and houses.

Her itinerary, signed by Protocol Officer Sheikh Akter Hossain, said the PM is expected to reach Cox's Bazar at 11am. She will leave for Ramu to distribute relief materials and donate money among the riot victims.

She will leave the resort town at around 3pm after a meeting with high officials of the district administration and local political leaders.

The committee formed by the BNP left Dhaka on Thursday for investigating the riot, and National Human Rights Commission Chairman Mizanur Rahman is scheduled to visit the troubled area on Friday.

A mob of fanatics rampaged through Buddhist villages in Ramu from Saturday night through to the wee hours of Sunday after a Buddhist youth allegedly insulted the Quran posting a photograph on his Facebook account.

The hate attack spread to Teknaf, Ukhia and Chittagong's Patia the next day when groups of zealots vandalised and looted houses and temples of both Buddhists and Hindus in broad daylight.
