Acid attack on madrasa girl, two others

Criminals threw acid on a madrasa student and two others at Sonakanda village in Daudkandi upazila early yesterday.
The injured are Farzana Aktar, 16, daughter of Jalal Uddin and a student of class IX at a local madrasa, her nephew and student of class V at the same madrasa Faisal Ahmed, 10, and their domestic help Khadiza Aktar, 15.
Sources said, a gang entered the house of Jalal Uddin at around 2:00am and threw acid at Farzana, Faisal and Khadiza while they were asleep and fled the scene.
Hearing their screams, other family members rescued them and took them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Daudkandi police recovered a can containing acid and held five local youths for interrogation.
Abul Faisal, officer in-charge of Daudkandi police station, said the incident might have been a sequel to previous enmity or stalking.
