Christian community in Pakistan has held protest in the port city of Karachi over the arrest of an 11-year-old girl accused of blasphemy. About 50 men and women gathered in Karachi on Saturday, demanding that Rimsha Masih, the arrested girl, be released and that Pakistan's anti-blasphemy law be done away with. "Rimsha has been sent to jail without any proof. We demand this law should be repealed, people are misusing it. And Rimsha should be released immediately," said Bishop Arshad Khokhar, chairman of Bishop Council in the Sindh province, of which Karachi is the capital. Those who attended the protest, organised by non-governmental organisation Alpha Human Rights Care Association, are not alone in their outrage over the arrest. The case has shone a spotlight on Pakistan's anti-blasphemy law, which rights groups say dangerously discriminates against the conservative Muslim country's minority groups. Solitary confinement There have also been conflicting reports on Masih's age and her mental state. Some media have said she is 11 and suffers from Down syndrome. Masih's lawyer, Tahir Naveed Chaudhry, said her family had informed him she was mentally ill. One police official said she was 16 and mentally sound. A Christian activist Xavier William told Reuters news agency in Islamabad on Friday that he had visited Masih at a police station where she was first held, and this week in prison. The girl was too frightened to speak in prison, where she is being held in solitary confinement for her safety. Under the blasphemy law, it is considered a crime for anyone to speak ill of Islam and the Prophet Mohammad. People accused of committing blasphemy face the potential of the death penalty. Activists say vague terminology has led to misuse of the law. Convictions are common, although the death sentence has never been carried out. Most convictions are thrown out on appeal, but mobs have killed many people accused of blasphemy. Christian exodus Masih's arrest triggered an exodus of several hundred Christians from her poor village after mosques reported over their loudspeakers what the girl was alleged to have done. Masih's landlord said the people protected her and the rest of the Christians in the vicinity. "We called the police. We handed her over to police without making any damage or harm to her," Malik Amjad told Reuters earlier in the week. A neighbour named Tasleem said her daughter saw Masih throwing away rubbish that included the burned religious material. Christians, who make up four per cent of Pakistan's population of 180 million, have been especially concerned about the blasphemy law, saying it offers them no protection. They say convictions hinge on witness testimony and are often linked to vendettas. In 2009, 40 houses and a church were set ablaze by a mob of 1,000 Muslims in the town of Gojra, in Punjab province. At least seven Christians were burned to death. The attacks were triggered by reports of the desecration of the Quran. Two Christian brothers accused of writing a blasphemous letter against the Prophet Mohammad were gunned down outside a court in the eastern city of Faisalabad in July of 2010. President Asif Ali Zardari has told officials to produce a report on the girl's arrest, which has brought protests from human rights agencies, including Amnesty International and the British-based Christian group Barnabas Fund. Masih is due to appear in court within the next 10 days. She could be formally charged with blasphemy.

Saudi authorities have announced they have foiled a "terror" plot by elements suspected of links to al-Qaeda, mostly Yemenis, and busted two extremist cells in Riyadh and Jeddah. The interior ministry said in a statement on Sunday the suspects were "in contact with the deviant organisation abroad", a term usually used to refer to al-Qaeda, the global terror network founded by slain Saudi-born Osama bin Laden. The suspects were working on "recruiting elements to execute criminal attacks targeting security forces, citizens and foreign residents, as well as public installations", the ministry said in a statement carried by the official SPA news agency. Two Saudis and six Yemenis were arrested while two nationals are wanted for questioning, according to the ministry. "Investigations revealed that those elements were at an advanced stage... including preparing explosives and testing them outside Riyadh," the ministry said, adding that one suspect accidentally lost a finger during the tests. The first Saudi suspect turned out to be the head of the cell in Riyadh, and he gave "detailed information" that led to the arrest of the six Yemenis, who also confessed to taking part in the plot, it said. Police found "chemicals used for explosives as well as mobile phones wired to detonate explosive devices remotely", at an annex of a mosque in the capital, the ministry said. Deadly attacks Investigations also led to a link with the other cell in the western city of Jeddah, the kingdom's second largest city. The ministry said that a Saudi member of that cell "who worked on preparing explosive chemicals" was arrested. If any of those plots had succeeded, it would have been the first since the suicide bombing against assistant defence minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayef in August 2009. The prince suffered only superficial injuries after the bomber got close to him and detonated his explosives. Saudi Arabia witnessed a wave of deadly attacks by al-Qaeda between 2003 and 2006, which prompted the authorities to launch a crackdown on the local branch of the group founded by slain Saudi-born Osama bin Laden. Following the crackdown, Saudi al-Qaeda members fled to neighbouring Yemen, joining ranks with their comrades there under the banner of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, taking advantage of Sanaa state's loose grip on power. In June, a Saudi court jailed 11 suspected al-Qaeda members to between two and 15 years for plotting attacks on US forces in neighbouring Kuwait and on oil installation in the energy-rich kingdom. In January 2011, cross-border police agency Interpol issued an alert to police worldwide for 47 Saudis with suspected links to al-Qaeda, following a Saudi Red Notice.

YANGON, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar President U Thein Sein has granted amnesty to three staff of the United Nations agencies and an international non-governmental organization, who were held for being involved in recent Rakhine unrest, according to an order of the President's Office Wednesday.

The three staff, who were released, include U Khin Shwe from the World Food Program (WFP), U Khin Maung from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and Ma Cho Lay Mar from the CSSEP.

They were respectively sentenced to two, three and six years in prison for instigating unrest in Rakhine state, orally discrediting the government, illegally holding of foreign exchange and committing arson and storing fuel for such motive, the order said.
Myanmar government has rejected accusations by some individuals and organizations abroad over the recent Rakhine riot, clarifying that the incident is sectarian conflict which is purely internal affairs of a sovereign state and is not related to any kind of religious persecution or discrimination.

The government also rejected any attempt to politically regionalize or internationalize the conflict as a religious issue, the Myanmar Foreign Ministry said.

According to the ministry, 88 people were killed in the May- June riot in the western Myanmar state, of whom 31 were Rakhinese, 57 were Bengali Muslims.
Houses and religious buildings from both communities were burned down.
The ministry  added that law and order in the Rakhine state is improving and overall situation in the state is now returning to normalcy.

But Many of politacians are just living in several jails in Myanmar.

Baghdad (CNN) -- Iraqi authorities executed 21 people, including three women, after they were convicted of terrorism and spent months on death row, the nation's Ministry of Justice reported Tuesday.

The prisoners were put to death on Monday in what appears to be the latest of several executions carried out by authorities in recent months, despite a United Nations call for restraint.

Since November, nearly 90 people have been executed, according to the United Nations. Sixty-five of them were put to death in the first 40 days of 2012.

"Our main concern is what were these people actually convicted of?" said Joe Stork, deputy Middle East director at Human Rights Watch. "Terrorism does not tell us very much."

Stork also expressed concerns over the nation's judicial process.

Violence in Iraq escalates

"What kind of trial did these people receive?" he asked. "We have unfortunately lots of experience to indicate that trials are very problematic, particularly security related trials in terms of providing defendants with the legal counsel."

Earlier this year, U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay said she was shocked at reports of mass executions. "Even if the most scrupulous fair trial standards were observed, this would be a terrifying number of executions to take place in a single day," Pillay said then.

"Most disturbingly, we do not have a single report of anyone on death row being pardoned, despite the fact there are well documented cases of confessions being extracted under duress," Pillay said.

The ministry also announced that it released 625 inmates on Monday from detention facilities across Iraq, indicating that the prisoners had completed their sentences.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, six Iraqi security force members were killed by gunmen in two shootings that targeted checkpoints.

In the al-Wazirya neighborhood of northeastern Baghdad, gunmen shot dead two Iraqi soldiers, authorities said.

Gunmen also attacked an army checkpoint in al-Mashahda, an area north of Baghdad, with small arms fire. Four Iraqi soldiers were killed.

Death toll rises to 3 in bombing in Kenya

Kenya: Muslim cleric Aboud Rogo Mohammed, who faced charges relating to terrorism, was killed Monday.

Nairobi, Kenya (CNN) -- Two more police officers died after a grenade attack in Kenya's port city of Mombasa, authorities said Wednesday.

The attack came on the second day of protests after a radical Muslim cleric was killed in the same city Monday by assailants his wife claims were police.

The riots were spurred by Monday's killing of radical Islamic cleric Aboud Rogo Mohammed. Rogo was accused of supporting Al-Shabaab militants in Somalia and was blacklisted by the United States and the United Nations Security Council.

He also faced charges before a Kenyan court for planning terror attacks in Mombasa, Kenya's second-largest city and a popular tourist destination.

Police have said Rogo's death was under investigation.

One humanitarian group is calling for an independent investigation into the controversial cleric's death.

"The killing of Aboud Rogo is a serious crime that needs speedy independent and impartial investigation," said Leslie Lefkow, deputy Africa director at Human Rights Watch. "In the meantime, police should continue to stick within the law in confronting the riots sparked by Rogo's death."

CNN) -- An Afghan soldier killed two American troops Monday in the latest attack by Afghan security forces on coalition soldiers, authorities said.

The killings occurred the same day 10 Afghan soldiers were killed when members of their own unit opened fire on them at an army post in southern Helmand province, according to provincial officials.

The latest attacks come at a sensitive time for the United States and its NATO-led allies, who are preparing to withdraw the majority of their troops by 2014 under a plan that requires Afghan forces to take responsibility for the country's security.

A defense official not authorized to speak on the record confirmed the nationality of the two Americans. The official said circumstances are still under investigation, but it appears to be an insider attack.

With Monday's killing of the two, at least 42 NATO troops have been killed in attacks by Afghan forces or insurgents disguised as soldiers or police, according to coalition officials.

U.S. Marine Gen. John Allen, chief of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force, said last week that an estimated 25% of such attacks are carried out by Taliban infiltrators.

The coalition did not provide details of the attack in eastern Afghanistan, saying only that NATO "troops returned fire, killing the ... soldier who committed the attack."

Afghan authorities, meanwhile, are investigating the attack by five soldiers on their own unit in Helmand's Washir district, which killed 10 people and wounded four, said Daud Ahmadi, a spokesman for Helmand's provincial governor.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the killings, and the governor's spokesman did not outline a possible motive for the attack.

Elsewhere in Afghanistan, authorities accused the Taliban of killing 17 people, including two women, in the Shah Karez region of Helmand province north of Kandahar, the Interior Ministry said Monday. A dispute between two Taliban commanders over two women led to the killings, Ahmadi said. Earlier reports by the Interior Ministry that said the victims were beheaded were incorrect, according to Ahmadi, who said the 17 were either shot or stabbed.

The attack occurred Sunday, the ministry said. The provincial government confirmed the killings but stopped short of accusing the Taliban, saying officials were still trying to determine who was responsible.

Allen condemned the latest violence, calling those responsible for it "cowards, killing innocent men and women."

Since 8 June 2012, thousands of homes have been torched and a massacred took place during the deadly sectarian violence in Arakan State, Myanmar. The attackers are illegal immigrants, namely Rohingyas who claim themselves as an ethnic group of the nation. The number of casualties has been rising despite the declaration of a state emergency and a strict curfew being imposed. News of the sectarian violence hit the headlines of the international press and photos of Rohingyas flooded everywhere. I am very disappointed with what I have been seeing and hearing what the international media channels are reporting on the Rohingya attack.They are totally blinded, siding with the Rohingya attackers, and distorting the fact that the Rakkhines are the real victims. The happenings are not as what they have been broadcasted. It is not a religious riot. It is not the attack of the minority Rakkhine to the minority Rohingya in Maung Daw Town.

It is, in fact, an invasion; to be precise, Rohingya invasion into Arakan land. This is Majority so called Rohingya Terrorist attacked against the Minority Arakanese people in Maung Daw Town-ship because 7% population are Arakanese. According to some of the reporters from the local media groups who actually are at the scene of violence, the Rohingyas are committing a massacred and torching the Buddhist and Hindu temples as well as the houses of the residents Rakkhine. What caused all the chaos in the Arakan State? Well, it all started when a native Buddhist girl was brutally raped and murdered by three Muslims on May 28. The rapists recorded the whole process of crime on a mp4 player and spread it among other illegal immigrants. This incident is followed by a killing of ten Muslims on Jun 3 where some Rakhines allegedly dragged them out and killed them. Little did the world media know about the deceased here is that these men were involved in the rape and murder case of the Buddhist girl and they were there to offer monetary reward to the families of the rapist which is why the local Rakhines were furious. During confrontation, they also threw sarcasm and vulgarity at the locals. Most of the Myanmar cetizens know what is really going on in Arakan State but the world does not. Because they don't want to know reality.

I would firmly say that Myanmar has been sabotaged by a group of strongly-funded Rohingya advocates and some foreign-based Myanmar media groups who have agreed to side with Rohingyas and promote them in return for monetary gain. In 2008, photos of the Chairman of a media group DVB (Democratic Voice of Burma), meeting with Nurul Islam, the President of ARNO (Arkan Rohingya National Organization), were made public by their immediate circle. ARNO is reported connecting with Al Qaeda and funded by Arab nations. Since last year, the government of Bangladesh has reportedly told the members of ARNO to leave the country to maintain law and order in the area and yet, there are eight ARNO bases on Bangladesh land. Since their meeting, DVB has been promoting Rohingyas and voicing out for them. Shortly after, Han Yawng Hwe, the Chairman of DVB, was accused of taking bribe from ARNO for the service DVB has rendered for the Rohingyas.
